DESIGNER NAMES: Sid Bryan, Joe Bates and Cozette McCreery
ORIGIN: The designers come from Yorkshire, Leicester and London respectively.
BACKGROUND: A collaboration between Joe Bates, Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, SIBLING is all for one and one for all. The three bring with them a strong heritage of experience with top name designers.
SIBLING launched on May 29th 2008 born out of a desire to give knitwear for men a good old fashioned shake-up with cartoon ka-pows of colour and bams of very English humour.
SIGNATURES: “Colourful, well-made, luxury knitwear for a man bored with the grey V-neck option.”
IDEAL CLIENT: “A man of any age with a sense of humour as defined in his sense of fashion.”
TRADEMARK PIECE: “If it were a popularity contest, it would be a fight between the Knit Monster and the printed Knitted Biker. Knit Monster probably wins although we do produce a version of both a biker jacket and a fair isle most seasons. As a signature look, it’s probably a punked-up fair isle scarf under a knitted biker.”
THE COLLECTION: “
Lord of the Flies, the Arab Spring, Paris May 1968 and Brick Lane are all references for spring/summer 2013”
LONDON TIPS: “It would be crazy to not enjoy some of the historical bastions of gentleman's dressing, so Savile Row for bespoke suits and Jermyn Street for shoes, shirts and a wet shave in a mahogany panelled barber shop. Always worth a look at what is on at Christie’s in South Kensington, there is a Popular Culture: Rock and Pop Memorabilia sale on 12th June where you could get an authentic Stormtrooper costume from Star Wars or a Sex Pistols tour poster. For something contemporary, POW (Pictures on Walls) gallery on Commercial Street is home to most of our best contemporary street artists with the original gallery of Banksy - great prints and originals.”
ON BRITISH MENSWEAR: “British menswear has the luxury of a dual heritage. We have Savile Row bespoke tradition but just as important and influential is our legacy of rebelling against this very traditionalism with such immensely influential designers as Christopher Nemeth who turned accepted truths in menswear on their head. We have always been good at stylish rebellion, but within the latest surge of menswear designers there is a concerted effort to be the first to capitalise on our own creativity and innovation. London has always been the home of INNOVATION NOT IMITATION.”
FUTURE PLANS: “To have our first ever catwalk presentation for SIBLING: all three of us are very excited about it.”
