LONDON show ROOMS Hong Kong

The British Fashion Council’s (BFC) international showcasing initiative LONDON show ROOMS is bringing London’s rising stars of British fashion to Hong Kong, supported by Li & Fung Limited, from the 31st October – 1st November, 2011. This new venture to Hong Kong supports the China/Britain Fashion Alliance, a combined initiative between the BFC, the Beijing International Brand Management Centre and the China-Britain Business Council to promote British Fashion in China.

Centrally located at The Space Gallery, 210 Hollywood Road, the showroom will showcase a selection of BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund shortlist designers, Fashion Forward alumni with the addition of the winners of British Fashion Awards Menswear and Accessory Designers of the Year 2010. The initiative aims to develop the profile of these designers through introductions to Chinese media, creatives and retailers.

London has a reputation for nurturing the world’s most innovative, emerging design talents and LONDON show ROOMS in Hong Kong brings together many of those identified as London’s future stars. The designers showcasing their SS12 collections include E. Tautz, Jonathan Saunders, Marios Schwab, Mary Katrantzou, Nicholas Kirkwood, Peter Pilotto, Roksanda Ilincic and Todd Lynn.

The LONDON show ROOMS is a British Fashion Council project, supported by UK Trade & Investment and aimed at boosting British designers exports and raising the profile of British designers in international markets. Launched in Paris in October 2008, this initiative provides a unique opportunity for emerging British designers to promote themselves outside London. The project is co-curated and managed by Anna Orsini and Barbara Grispini for the British Fashion Council with the support of the BFC’s Ambassador for Emerging Talent Sarah Mower. The pop-up showroom is a strategic element of the British Fashion Council's support and mentoring scheme with the aim to promote London design internationally and secure new export business.

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, commented “Hong Kong is an invaluable market for our British designer businesses. It is important that they develop their knowledge of and relationships with both media and retailers in this market; LONDON show ROOMS Hong Kong enables them to do that.”

The Hong Kong showroom will be open for two days, 31st October – 1st November 2011 at The Space Gallery, 210 Hollywood Road Sheung Wan, Hong Kong, +852 2361 1210.
