Don't Miss at London Collections: Men

There will be over 130 designers participating in LC: M in shows, presentations and events including Savile Row, MAN and Fashion East Collectives. The Designer Showrooms has nearly doubled in size and will showcase collections by 54 designers. Highlights on the event schedule include a Dolce Gabbana event, an opening party by Esquire; a reception at Liberty hosted by Men’s Health and YMC; a dinner hosted by Jonathan Newhouse and a Tommy Hilfiger and a Mulberry event. On Wednesday 8th January the BFC Fash/On Film initiative, sponsored by River Island will showcase five of the year’s best films at a screening at the Old Sorting Office. These include a film introduced by Alex Bilmes, Alex Mattsson AW14, palmer//harding AW14 and Joseph Turvey in collaboration with the River Island Design Forum. The showcase will close with a London Collections: Men GQ dinner hosted by Dylan Jones and Anya Hindmarch. www.londoncollections.co.uk/schedule

Rising stars

Ten of London’s brightest emerging talents will receive NEWGEN support, sponsored by TOPMAN. Agi & Sam, Astrid Andersen, Common, Diego Vanassibara, Kit Neale, Lee Roach, Martine Rose, Matthew Miller, Nasir Mazhar and Shaun Samson complete the NEWGEN MEN line-up this January. Christopher Raeburn and Sibling have received Fashion Forward sponsorship for AW14, Fashion Forward is sponsored by eBay Fashion and supported by the Mayor of London.
 

London Home of Menswear

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson is launching a new campaign London Home of Menswear to coincide with London Collections: Men. The campaign runs across the London Underground network from 3rd – 16th January aiming to raise awareness of how this industry makes a vital contribution to London’s economy. Following on from the launch of the History and Heritage report in June 2013, this consumer focused campaign continues to engage the wider public in menswear.

MAN & Fashion East Installations

On Monday 6th January MAN, the joint initiative between TOPMAN and Fashion East returns to the catwalk this season to champion three menswear talents: Alan Taylor, Bobby Abley and Craig Green. The same day, Fashion East Installations will see designers Liam Hodges and Tom Ryling joined by jeweller Roxanne Farhamand, shirt maker Massimo Cagrande and Central Saint Martins graduate Nicomede Ralavera. www.fashioneast.co.uk

Savile Row and St James’s

in collaboration with The Woolmark Company The English Gentleman at the Cabinet War Rooms presentation on Tuesday 7th January will feature over seventy models, dressed by the bespoke tailors of Savile Row and St James’s in collaboration the The Woolmark Company and styled by Jo Levin, Creative Fashion Director of GQ. www.savile-row-london-collections.com

LC: M Online

The British Fashion Council will be bringing the highlights of London Collections: Men to a global audience across digital platforms. Q&A sessions will take place on Twitter, with guests including Menswear Ambassador, Nick Grimshaw. TOPMAN will stream its show and post-show interviews live on Google+ Hangout. Members of the public can also watch live streamed shows from the MAN show on Monday 6th January and Burberry will be live streaming its show on Wednesday 8th January. www.londoncollections.co.uk/live

Around Town

Joining the celebration of London as the home of menswear, some of Britain’s most established retailers will be hosting special events and promotions around town during London Collections: Men. Browns has installed a specially designed window featuring James Long and curated by Luke Day; the Design Museum will be offering LC:M badge holders 20% off to Hello, My Name is Paul Smith exhibition between 6th-8th January 2014; Harrods will be hosting an in-store LC:M menswear feature; Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Liberty have dedicated  specially designed window installations to celebrate British menswear; MATCHESFASHION.COM has collaborated with SHOWstudio to create a video project that celebrates LC: M that will run online over the event; the Museum of London will be screening shows and LC: M highlights over the three days on the screens in the Sackler Hall, and Selfridges has launched an installation designed by Gareth Pugh that will be open over January. The TOPMAN will again take over the Old Crown pub at 33 New Oxford Street following its success last season. Other menswear retailers will feature the LC:M logo online and in specially commissioned window installations.
