DESIGNER NAME: John Rocha
BACKGROUND: Hong Kong, but I moved to the UK almost thirty years ago and have lived in Dublin for over twenty years now.
TRADEMARK PIECE: “My key piece is a hand crochet jacket – the surface densely worked in tumbles and loops of uncombed yarn and tassels of silk and cashmere with a wonderful shearling collar."
THE COLLECTION: “Diverse notions from the Wicklow countryside, from the colours and texture of the Sally Gap on a winter’s day to the colours of the sea and the shore in Tahiti.”
CULTURAL INFLUENCES: “I am continually inspired by the work of painters like Sean Scully and Pierre Soulages, the colours and textures are beautiful and music is a constant joy. Also Hank Williams, the perpetual soundtrack to my sketching, or live music on the catwalk.”
